Please Note: This list is the viewpoint of this guide, and is not authoritative. Analysing lens complaints with online contact companies concerning daily lenses and talking to contact lens practitioners we have got an overview on the quality of daily lenses from different manufacturers.
1 Day Acuvue - Johnson & Johnson
1 Day Acuvue by Johnson and Johnson is considered the best daily lens in terms
of comfort and quality, but this is also the
most expensive
daily lens on the
market. Good packaging. UV block included and inside out indicator. Easy
handling.
1 Day Acuvue Moist takes the existing 1 Day Acuvue material and adds a
moisture rich ingredient and embed it in the lens. This creates a long -
lasting silky smooth moisture cushion throughout the lens. Our staff have
been wearing the first lenses launched and they say they do feel more
comfortable than normal.
Focus Dailies - Cibavision
Considered to be the next best daily lens, but at a considerably
better price.
Good packaging and easy handling. Now also come with a moisture lock
ingredient as standard.
Focus Dailies now come in an improved version with added moisture lock,
which is meant to keep the lenses feeling comfortable throughout the day.
1 day Soflens - Bausch & Lomb
Handling more fiddly because 1 Day soflens packaging is not well designed. Lens
does not hold shape so well on insertion. More customer complaints about
reproducibility. About the same
price to buy
as Focus Dailies.
Daysoft UV - Provis
Provis is the only lens manufacturer
which only makes daily disposable contact lenses. Daysoft UV
is one of the better priced lenses on the market.
However, the price differential is eroding as focus
dailies are falling in price with increased competition. Packaging has
improved significantly since it's launch.
They include 32 lenses per pack instead of the standard 30.
They were the first daily-disposable
contact lens to incorporate UV inhibitor and are designed with a unique
rounded edge for improved comfort. Biomedics 1 Day -
Coopervision This used to be made by Ocular Sciences but the
company got bought out by Coopervision. This has made the lens widely
available as Ocular Science had a restrictive supply policy so that the
lenses could only be bought from independent opticians. Sauflon 1 Day Another new lens on the scene - expect to be supplied this lens by your
optician because, once again, this lens is not available on the internet,
so the optician can avoid competition and tie you in to their monthly
schemes.
